State highway officials to meet in Bella Vista Thursday
Posted: August 19, 2009 7:23 p.m.Members of the highway commissions from Missouri and Arkansas will meet next week in Bella Vista to show support for the proposed Bella Vista bypass. The luncheon, hosted by the Northwest Arkansas Council, will be Thursday, Aug. 20, at 11:30 a.m. at the Bella Vista Country Club. In addition to the commissioners, transportation officials and members of the congressional delegations from both states are expected to attend. Local elected officials and community leaders will also be invited.

Bass joins First Community Bank in Missouri

Bass will be located in the Neosho, Mo., office at 230 W. Spring St. First Community Bank, headquartered in Batesville, Ark., operates 13 banking locations and a mortgage origination office. Missouri locations include Neosho, Goodman and Jane. Arkansas locations include Batesville, Cave City, Highland, Bald Knob, Searcy and Cabot.

Power and Associates' 2009 Full-service Investor Satisfaction Study. Bella Vista has four Edward Jones financial advisors : Chris Donovan, David Dalton, Earl Scroggin and Kevin Yingst.

This groomer comes to the pet
Posted: July 29, 2009 7:37 p.m.Having spent 15 years in the corporate world - as both a vice president with Citibank and a marketing manager with GE Money - Rogers resident Melvin Torres knows a thing or two about suits and ties. But he recently traded in all that. And when he did, the scenery around him changed dramatically as well. "Step into my office," Torres said on July 7 as he stretched to climb aboard his new place of employment. Since January, his office has been the back of a Mercedes Sprinter van. Rather than a desk, chair, computer monitor and spreadsheets, this new office space is equipped with an assortment of dog shampoos, shower heads, hoses and a sink equipped to handle the biggest and smallest of pets. The van is covered on all sides with the logo of Aussie Pet Mobile, the nation's largest mobile pet-grooming business. For the past six months, Torres has been driving his Aussie Pet Mobile from client to client, across northwest Arkansas, cleaning people's dogs, cats and other animals. Despite the unst
