— One local business is going to the dogs - and cats.

Village Pet Hospital in Cunningham Corner has submitted plans for a large scale development on the northwest corner of Dartmoor Road and Lambeth Road.

Dr. Leeth Harper, owner of the business, said the property has been purchased. The plans show 4,400 square feet of space and 23 parking spaces.

The business has grown with the area, Harper said, and they need more room. They want to provide a boarding facility for dogs and need expanded work rooms. A kitty condo area is also planned.

“It’s been a long time, putting it all together,” Harper said.

Two stories are planned, with the second floor providing mainly storage facilities and a break room for employees.

“It is exciting. We just have to get it through the (Bella Vista) Planning Commission now,” he said.

This is the second large scale development the Commission is considering; it is expected they will address the issue at the public hearing on Nov. 9 at Riordan Hall beginning at 6:30 p.m.

The first project was for a church on the corner of Arkansas 340 and Dogwood Lane. The application has been withdrawn.

Official believes road could be finished by summerGAYNELL BELLONI Staff Writer gaynellb@nwanews.com

Gordon Hollow Road could be completed by mid-summer, Mayor Frank Anderson said at the City Council meeting on Oct. 26.

A bridge contractor has been selected and a crane moved in, Mc-Donald County Commissioner Sam Gaskill said.

The bridge will be constructed in place, Gaskill said, and possibly completed within the next several months, depending on weather conditions.

Gaskill said the Federal Emergency Management Agency work, that delayed the road project, has been completed

Gordon Hollow Road connects Scotsdale Drive in Bella Vista to the shopping area in Jane, Mo.

The beginning of the road is in Bella Vista; the next part of the road lies in unincorporated Benton County, and the majority of the road lies in McDonald County, Mo.

The City of Bella Vista, the Bella Vista Property Owners Association, Benton County, and Mc-Donald County are participating in the joint effort.

The City and the POA each contributed $200,000 for the project.

POA General Manager Tommy Bailey confirmed the road lies within POA property in Missouri and that any type of development will likely increase that property’s value.

Bailey said he worked with Missouri commissioners on the placement of the road to move it out of the floodplain to increase development potential.

“We felt it would be of benefit to us,” he said.

The POA does not have any plans for development at this time, Bailey said.
