BELLA VISTA The number of pets allowed a resident was again reviewed by the City Council at a work session on Oct. 1.
During a discussion about the Zoning Codes, council members agreed there was a conflict.
According to the code, anyone with more than four pets would have to register as a kennel - but kennels are not allowed in residential areas.
Alderman Doug Farner recommended they delete the section and deal with animal-related problems through the animal control, nuisance orpublic health ordinances.
The Zoning Code is expected to be presented at the Oct. 26 meeting.
Deleting the two relevant sections would be accomplished by vote.
Another change to the Zoning Code was suggested by Mayor Frank Anderson concerning home occupations. Discussion centered around what is a true home occupation versus a business. Council members agreed that the traffic generated by a business is undesirable in a residential neighborhood.
Anderson will present a rewritten section for consideration at the next meeting.
City building codes were passed at September's meeting, and additions to them were presented for discussion at the work session.
Chris Suneson, director of planning and code enforcement, will re-examine several sections that were objected to by Alderman George Holmes.
Holmes did not agree with some of the residential building requirements that would necessitate an engineer's evaluation.
Fee schedules for planning review, permit and building inspection fees were scrutinized by council members.
No changes were made and the fee schedules will be presented as a resolution at the next council meeting.
