— Robert Oran Dean

Oran Dean, , of Bella Vista, died Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009, at his home. He was born Feb. 12, 1932, in Houston.

He grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. He attended Rice University, then graduated from Louisiana State University.

He had a successful career in the petroleum industry. He was a volunteer for many organizations.

Survivors include daughters, Lauren Patricia Dean of Gainesville, Fla., Kim Dean McDougal of Denver, Colo., and Dori Dean Jones of Tampa, Fla.; a son, Robert Alan Dean of Denver; two brothers, Nelwyn Anderson and Garron Dean, both of Corpus Christi; a sister, Laina Maher of San Antonio, Texas; and nine grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Oct. 3 at the Bella Vista Community Church, with Dr. Thad Moore officiating.

Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home and Crematory.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Red Cross; or to the Bella Vista Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 5248, Bella Vista, AR 72714.

Della May Gilbert

Della May Gilbert, 92, of Bella Vista, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at Concordia Health Care in Bella Vista.

She was born on Sept. 19, 1917, to James Earl Truitt and Leva Gertrude Prindle Truitt.

She attended and graduated from Benton High School in St. Joseph, Mo. She also attended Platte Gard Business College inSt. Joseph.

She married Glenn Gilbert on June 14, 1938, in St.

Joseph.

She was a bookkeeper for W e l s h Plumbingand Heating for 17 years.

She moved to Bella Vista in May 1977 from Kansas City, Mo.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista. She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star, Past Matron of King Hill Lodge, Crime Watch secretary for three years in Bella Vista; Extension Club treasurer for several years in Bella Vista; Eager Beaver NCHA Camping Club director; and a volunteer at Bates Hospital and Northwest Hospital for 20 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Gilbert; and granddaughter, Kristina Marie Gilbert.

She is survived by son Robert Gilbert and wife, Sharon of Kansas City, Kan.; daughter Susan Haden and husband Roney of Jefferson City, Mo.; granddaughter, Jeanne Green and husband Lt. Col. Darrell of Ft. Knox, Ky., and greatgrandchildren Ryan and Sara Green.

A funeral service was held Oct. 4 at the First United Methodist Church of Bella Vista, with the Rev. Sara Bainbridge officiating.

A graveside service was held Oct. 6 at St. Joseph Memorial Park Cemetery in St. Joseph, with the Rev. Doctor Susan Ventura officiating.

Virginia G. Harvey

Virginia G. Harvey, 80, of Bentonville, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale.

She was born April 20, 1929, in Van Buren, to Ed Earp and Verda Mae Earp.

She grew up in Van Buren, where she married Lawrence Harvey. While living in Van Buren, she worked as a bank teller for 20 years.

After moving to Harrison, she worked in the library at Forest Heights Elementary School for 10 years.

She and her husband later moved to Bella Vista, to retire.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Rogers, and was active in several community and church groups.

She was an avid crafter and a master baker, and had several of her dessert recipes published in Southern Living.

She was an avid fundraiser for cancer support. She enjoyed vacationing with her family and traveling.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Gertrude Ragsdale, Louise Cradduck and Mildred Belt.

Survivors include her husband, Lawrence Harvey; daughters and a sonin-law, Jan Willsey and Ken Willsey of Bella Vista, and Nancy Shower of Harrison; grandchildren, James Willsey and Amy Willsey, both of Florida, Angela Walker and Grayson Walker, both of Fayetteville, and Amy Eddings, Ashley Earnhart, Lexi Shower, Timmy Shower and Tommy Shower, all of Harrison; and greatgrandchildren, A.J. Willsey, Jenna Willsey, Kristen Walker, Kyleeann Laverty, Kyara Laverty and Wesley Earnhart.

A celebration of life was held Oct. 5 at Grace United Methodist Church in Rogers, with the Rev. Harry Cross officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, 1801 S. Dixieland Road, Rogers, AR 72758; or to Circle of Life Hospice, 901 Jones Road, Springdale, AR 72762.

Thomas M. Hoffman

Thomas Milton Hoffman, 85, of Rogers, died Wednesday, Sept. 30, 2009, at Heritage Park Nursing Home in Rogers. He was born on Jan. 30, 1924, in Detroit, to Sam Hoffman and Rose Klein Hoffman.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Inez Reece Hoffman, who died in 2007.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Oct. 19, at the Bella Vista Community Church, 75 East Lancashire Blvd., Bella Vista.

Catherine Mack

Margaret Catherine Mack, 83, of Bella Vista, died Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers. She was born on Aug. 15, 1926, in Irvington, N.J., to Daniel Paul Kerr and Margaret Kohms Kerr.

She married Carl J. Mack on Sept. 15, 1946, at St. Mary's Church in Roselle Park, N.J.

She worked as a beauty supply store manager, setting up stores for a chain in Orange County, Calif. She moved to Bella Vista 10 years ago from Anaheim, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Daniel Paul Kerr Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Carl J. Mack of Bella Vista; daughter, Linda Gail Allen and husband, William of Rogers; grandchildren, Amanda McGinty and husband, Ricky, Kimberly Allen; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Sigurdson and Logan McGinty; niece, Cathy Kerr, and nephew, Danny Kerr;

A memorial service was held Oct. 5 at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel.

Gunnar M. Madsen

Gunnar M. Madsen, 71, of Bella Vista, passed away Sept. 27, 2009.

Gunnar was born on March 27, 1938, in Oslo, Norway, to Arthur and Ragnhild Madsen.

Gunnar was a veteran of the United States Army, serving from 1960 to 1962.

He was united in marriage on Aug. 21, 1965, to Kari in Minneapolis.

Gunnar worked for many years as a watchmaker and jeweler. In later years he also worked in sales and retired from the Seiko Watch Company.

He was a member of the Bella Vista Fly Tyers Club and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Gunnar was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.

He is survived by his wife, Kari of the home;

two sisters in Norway;

one sister in Minneapolis; one cousin in Bella Vista and numerous cousins in Norway and the U.S.A.

In lieu of flowers, Gunnar requested that donations be made to his wife Kari Madsen.

Arrangements are under the direction of Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home in Rogers.

Gwendolyn Marie Querry

Gwendolyn Marie Querry, 86, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at Concordia Arms, Bella Vista.

She was born Sept. 8, 1923, in Webb City, Okla., the daughter of Cecil Ray Gambill and Helen May Wood Gambill.

She graduated from Kingfisher High School in 1941, and graduated from Draughans Business School. She enlisted in the U.S. Navy Waves during World War II. She continued her education at Northern Oklahoma Junior College, and received a B.S. degree in 1950 from Central State College in Edmond, Okla.

Gwendolyn married Kenneth Jay Querry on Feb. 20, 1947, in Tonkawa, Okla. They retired to Bella Vista in 1982.

She served on many various committees most recently serving as music librarian at the Bella Vista Christian Church.

She was a member of Sweet Adelines, and Sophisticated Ladies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Kenneth Jay Querry, and brothers Wynn Gambill, and Max Gambill.

She is survived by daughters Marilyn Becker and her husband Bob, of Norman, Okla., Karen Demory and her husband Gerald of Bentonville, and Kim Sheets and her husband Will of Perry,Okla; grandchildren and their spouses Breen and Misty Haywood, Michael and Amy Becker, Jay and Dawn Sheets, Jaime and Chad Bagg, Brad and Angie Haywood, Brandan Sheets, and Maranda and Chad Wilson;

great-grandchildren Jonah, Canaan, Ethan, and Chloe Bagg, Preston, Tyler, and Adom Haywood, Maegan, and Gabriel Becker, Taylor and Braxton Haywood, Payton Wilson, and Adisyn Sheets; and brother Ray Gambill, of Oklahoma City.

A funeral service was held Oct. 6 at the Bella Vista Christian Church.

Burial was Oct. 7 at the Tonkawa I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Tonkawa, Okla.

Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

Schnackenberg

Della Irene Schnackenberg, 80, of Bella Vista, died Wednesday, Sept.

30, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Rogers.

She was born on Aug.

3, 1929, in Farnam, Neb., to Harold Lehman and Viola Johnson Lehman.

She andher husband Bill moved to Bella Vista in 1992.

She was a member of the United L u t h e r a n Church.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Schnackenberg of Bella Vista;

daughters Kris Wheeler and husband Scott, Kathy Bassett and husband, Gale; son Paul Schnackenberg; five grandchildren; three brothers and two sisters.

A memorial service was held Oct. 5 at the United Lutheran Church.

A second service was held Oct. 7 at the American Lutheran Church in Gothenburg, Neb.

Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

Ken Vogras, of Bella Vista, formerly of Plymouth, Mich., died Sept.

26, 2009.

Ken worked for the City of Plymouth for over 35 years, was the director of public works for 25 years, and 10 years as the sewer and water director of west Bloomfield Township, Mich., prior to his retirement in 2001.

Ken loved to golf and was a member of the Wild Men, The Duffers and The Jelly Bellies.

daughter, J a c k i e (Jim) Kilmartin; sonLoren (Gail) Vogras;

grandchildren, Anthony and Doug Kilmartin, Lisa Vogras, Jason, Michael, Jeffrey and Matthew Bennett, Allen and Karla Smith; seven greatgrandchildren; sister, Carol (Ken) Hilley; sisters-in-law Patt (Orin) Ribar and Kay (Bo) Rhudy; brothers-in-law John (Jackie) Wohn, Ron (Joyce) Wohn; and some very special nephews and nieces.

A memorial services was held at the Bella Vista Community Church Oct. 3, with the Rev.

Richard Lindman officiating.

Arrangements were by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.
