BENTONVILLE October 13 is the last day to pay personal and real property taxes for 2008.
After that day, a 10 percent late fee will be added to the overall amount due, and each delinquent account will begin collecting interest daily, said Gloria Peterson, county collector.
Normally due on Oct.
10, taxpayers will get a little more time to pay their property taxes this year because the normal due date falls on a Saturday, and the following Monday is Columbus Day, a national holiday.
All in all, the county will collect $228,444,000 in taxes by the year's end on the 238,751 parcels of property in Benton County. Of that amount,$114,611,402 was still outstanding as of Wednesday afternoon, Peterson said.
In order to make paying taxes easier this year, the Collector's Office has installed drop boxes at its main location at the Benton County Administration Building at 215 E.
Central Ave. and the collector's satellite location at 2308 S.E. 28th St., both in Bentonville, Peterson said.
An additional drop boxis scheduled to be installed at the Collector's Office in Rogers at 300 W. Poplar St., Peterson said.
"They can drop their taxes off at anytime day or night using those boxes," Peterson said. "Of course, we ask that they pay with a check if they use the box instead of cash."
The Collector's Office also has a Web site available for those who wish to pay their taxes online.
The Web address is www.ark.org/bentoncounty/index.php.
Residents may also pay their taxes by phone at 271-1040 or in person at one of the Collector's Office locations.
