— Lake Avalon’s new heated fishing dock is now open.

The new dock looks a lot like the original, but it offers some features that will make it more userfriendly. In addition to a heater for winter fishing, the dock has an air-circulation ventilator for summer air movement.

The 1,344-square-foot structure also has new benches and lighting. These features will helpprovide a comfortable and desirable amenity for anglers, said Vern Olafson, the Property Owners Association’s lakes and parks superintendent.

The association has placed power receptacles near the water inside the building that will allow for the addition of underwater fishing lights in 2010. Meanwhile, the fish-cleaning station is operational, and new lights have been placed on the exterior walls.

Caulking of the floorwill be done after the building has been operational and the boards have had time to cure.

The staff is in the process of developing a plan for fish habitat placement under and around the dock, Olafson said. The work will start once the Lake Ann habitat project is complete.

“The Lake Avalon heated fishing dock will continue to be a great amenity for Bella Vista Village members and their guests to use for many years,” Olafson said.
