Judson church receives trust

A former resident of Bella Vista has left a trust to the church he helped establish.

The late Dr. Allan R. Knight left the money to Judson American Baptist Church through royalties from the sale of his book, “The New Life,” according to church clerk Marjorie Sharp. The book was first published in 1947, and more than 750,000 copies in 10 languages have been sold, she said.

It was the wish of Knight and his late wife, Pearl, that the church receive the money, with the first $5,000 going toward debt reduction of the building fund or, if none existed, then toward building repairs, improvements or additions. The money was used to install a new elevator. ‘Ghost Walk’ slated Oct. 29

BENTONVILLE - The Peel House Foundation will host the ninth annual Historical Ghost Walk and Dinner on Oct. 29.

A “grieving widow” will lead participants on a journey into the history of early founding and political figures of Bentonville, one of the oldest towns in Arkansas. Hear the stories, learn Victorian mourning customs and tour the historical section of the Bentonville Cemetery.

Participants will also tour one of Bentonville’s most historic sites, the home site of Col. Samuel West Peel. The stories and legends will be blended with bits of human interest and historical fact, making the stories educational for all ages.

The tour will conclude with a spaghetti dinner. The cost is $20 per person and $10 for children ages 6 to 12. Reservations are required and may be made by calling 273-9664.
