— Richard Marvis Brock

Richard Marvis Brock, 77, of Bella Vista, Ark., died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, in Rogers, Ark. He was born June 2, 1932, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Glen C. Brock and Elizabeth Pearl Reed Brock.

He loved to travel the United States, Mexico, and Canada by motor home. He enjoyed flying his own planes and building and racing sprint cars. He was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Association, and an avid Razorbacks fan. He spent most of his life as a farmer in the Hardy, Iowa, and Renwick, Iowa area, where he was an active deacon and member of the United Methodist Church of Renwick. Most recently, he was a bus driver for the Pea Ridge, Ark. School District.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cindy Brock.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Marilyn “Dedy” Bailey Brock; one son, Greg Brock and wife Sandy of Paris, Texas; two daughters, Deb Torgerson and husband Craig of Des Moines, Iowa, and Pam Connelly and husband Chris of Rogers; one brother, Gordon Brock and wife Ester of Humboldt, Iowa; two stepsons, Joe Del Barto and wife Lucia of Mesa, Ariz. and Rick Del Barto and wife Nikki of Cedar Park, Texas; one stepdaughter, Julie Del Barto of Arlington, Texas; 17 grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Oct. 27, at the First Presbyterian Church of Rogers with the Rev. Jeff Parks. A private family committal service will be on Wednesday, Oct. 28, in the Evergreen Cemetery in Paris, Texas. Arrangements were by Stockdale Funeral Services of Rogers.

Leonard Ray Brown

Leonard Ray Brown, 57, of Summers, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. He was born May 8, 1952, in Lincoln, Ark., to Mack D. Brown and Minnie Bell Brown.

He served in the U.S. Army. He earned the rank of sergeant and was a veteran of the first Persian Gulf War. He married Cheryl La-Vaughn Peterson on Aug. 7, 2008, in Summers. He was a member of the Summers Missionary Baptist Church and enjoyed studying the Bible.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mack D. and Minnie Bell Brown; two brothers; and four sisters.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl Brown; a son, Christopher Brown; twin daughters, Latisha Brown and Patricia Brown; a stepson, Tony L. Taylor of Summers; a stepdaughter, Torie L. Inge of Fayetteville, Ark.; three brothers and sisters-inlaw, R.L. Brown and Gussie Brown of Westville, Okla., James Brown and Linda Brown of Brighten, Colo., and Cecil Brown and Ethel Brown of Victoria, Texas; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Irene Sykes and Bob Sykes of Rogers, Ark., Retha Augustine and Mike Augustine of McAlester, Okla., and Mary Pekar of Lake Jackson, Texas; numerous step-grandchildren; and a step-great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Backstrom-Pyeatte Funeral Home Chapel of Siloam Springs, Ark. Burial was at the Bell Cemetery in Watts, Okla.

Laura Adeline Wierick Cline

Laura Adeline Wierick Cline, 80, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at the Earlene Howard Hospice Center in Springdale, Ark. She was born Jan. 27, 1929, in the Brushy, Ark., community to John Smith and Anna Allred Smith.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Rogers, where she served as an elder and church secretary for several years and was active in the Disciples Sunday school class. She worked for Farmers and Merchants Bank, and later the Bank of Rogers, and was the Rogers city clerk from 1970 to 1975. She also sold real estate for several local brokers.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Carl Wierick, in 1966; her second husband, Joe Cline, in 1994; a son, John Wierick; and four siblings.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Doug Wierick and Lori Song of Carson City, Nev.; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet Brewington Reynolds and Larry Reynolds of Rogers; two stepdaughters, Sandy Cline of Rogers and Sheila Blas-Leon of Missouri; a sister, Hellen Pinkley of Berryville, Ark.; six grandchildren, Lori Renko, Holly Tucker, Shawn Wierick, Carl Wierick, Ben Wierick and Scott Brewington; a step-granddaughter, Brookelynn Reynolds; and a great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 22, at the First Christian Church in Rogers with the Rev. Shawn Wallace. Burial was at the Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers. Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Rogers.

Betty Crihfield

Betty Crihfield, 74, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville, Ark. She was born May 15, 1935, in New Castle, Colo., to Arthur Castle and Ruby Rhodes Castle.

Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill Crihfield and Teresa Crihfield of Hindsville, Ark., and Andy Crihfield and Ann Crihfield of Bentonville, Ark.; a daughter, Ruby Corshia; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Avoca, Ark. Cremation arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.

Alma Mae Hardy

Alma Mae Hardy, 96, of Rogers, Ark., died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at Concordia Health and Rehabilitation in Bella Vista, Ark. She was born Oct. 31, 1912, in Pea Ridge, Ark., in the Buttram Chapel community, to George Pleasant Prophet and Bessie Ann Patterson Prophet.

She worked for both the Pea Ridge and Rogers school district cafeterias for 12 years. She was a member of Pea Ridge United Methodist Church. She was an avid gardener and raised prize tomatoes. She enjoyed creative sewing and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Dennis Hardy; a daughter, Donna Lou Cooley; a grandson, Edward Thomas Johnson Jr.; a sister; and four brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Deason of Rogers; a brother, Robert Prophet of Pea Ridge, Ark.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 23, at the Sisco Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Nichols. Burial was at the Buttram Chapel Cemetery in Pea Ridge. Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge, Ark.

Dorothy Holland

Dorothy Holland, 87, of Bentonville, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, in Bentonville. She was born April 21, 1922, in Crowell, Texas, to James Hendrix and Dilla Cawthon Hendrix.

She was a member of the Highfill Methodist Church in Highfill, Ark.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hershel E. Holland.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Darla Boster and Larry Boster of Bentonville; two brothers, James Hendrix of Highfill, Ark., and Jay Lee Hendrix of Siloam Springs, Ark.; a sister, Maxine Marler of Rogers, Ark.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held Tuesday, Oct. 20, at the Springtown Cemetery in Springtown, Ark. Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Bentonville.

Joan E. Hutchinson

Joan E. Hutchinson, 74, of Rogers, Ark., died Wednesday Oct. 21 2009 at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville, Ark. She was born Oct. 4, 1935, in Donna, Texas, to Edgar Rodgers and Laura Dunigan Rodgers.

She was a member of the Southside Church of Christ in Rogers, where she was active in the widow and widowers group. She was also active in the Benton County Senior Activity Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Hutchinson; a son, Ronald Hutchinson; and eight siblings.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara Jensen and Warren Jensen of Sherwood, Ark.; two sons and daughters-inlaw, Philip Hutchinson and Cindy Hutchinson of Rogers and Allan Hutchinson and Judi Hutchinson of Bedford, Ind.; four sisters, Irene Parker of Crossett, Ark., Ola Mae Owens of Chowchilla, Calif., Iva Faye Weaver of Henderson, Texas, and Jeanette Hammond of Brazoria, Texas; four grandchildren, Adam Hollis, Dakota Cox, Jonathan Hutchinson and Dallas Hutchinson; and two great-grandchildren, Hunter Hollis and Haley Hollis.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 23, at the Southside Church of Christ in Rogers with Jackie Chesnutt. Graveside services were held Monday, Oct. 26, at the Little Rock National Cemetery in Little Rock, Ark. Arrangements were by Callison-Lough Funeral Home of Rogers.

Byren Eugene Jones

Byren Eugene Jones, 88, of Rogers, Ark., died Monday, Oct. 19, 2009, at his home. He was born July 9, 1921, in Maysville, Ark., to Gene Jones and Bertie Stewart Jones.

He was a lifetime resident of the Rogers area. He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army Infantry. He was stationed in New Guinea and the Philippines. He was a charter member and served as a deacon of Temple Baptist Church in Rogers for 35 years. He was a member of The Gideons International.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Lucile Jones; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn Swearingen and David Swearingen of Rogers, Linda Chrisope and Terry Chrisope of St. Charles, Mo., and Cindy Wilson and Charles Wilson of Seagrove, Fla.; two sisters, Vola Atkins of San Antonio, Texas, and Ava Creech of Monett, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, Oct. 22, at Temple Baptist Church in Rogers with the Rev. Ron Fields and the Rev. J.B. Manning. Burial was at the Benton County Memorial Park in Rogers. Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.

Pallbearers were Spike Hermes, Don Neal, Rodney Jernigan, Franklin Holloway, Russell Jones and Jim Chasteen.

Lois Marie Koehlke

Lois Marie Koehlke, 88, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at her home. She was born Jan. 18, 1921, in Cleveland, Ohio, to Roman Burkhart and Marie Phillips Burkhart.

She married Harry Koehlke in 1940 in Cleveland. She worked for Lubrizol Corp. as a receptionist and secretary for more than 25 years. She and her husband retired to Eustis, Fla., where they enjoyed golfing and she made two holes-in-one.

After moving to Bella Vista, Ark., in 2000, she continued to golf and was a member of the Highlands Methodist Church, where she did needlework and knitted prayer shawls. She was also a member of the Bella Vista Garden Club and the Highlands Red Hatters.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Harry Koehlke; and two brothers, Maynard Burkhart and Melvin Burkhart.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Maynard Allen Koehlke and Rachel Koehlke of Highpoint, N.C.; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn Stone and Douglas Stone of Bella Vista, Ark.; four grandchildren, Mark Koehlke and Tiffany Cole, both of North Carolina, Rob Stone of Cabot, Ark., and Douglas Stone of Wichita, Kan.; six greatgrandchildren, Ashlynn Cole, Trevor Stone, Tyler Stone, Trey Stone, Jacob Stone and Kaitlynn Stone; a sister-in-law, Mildred Burkhart; a niece, Diane; and a nephew, Gordon.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 24, at Highlands Methodist Church in Bella Vista, Ark., with Pastor Rex Darling and Pastor Michael Callahan. Inurnment was at the Hillcrest Memorial Gardens in Leesburg, Fla. Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.

James Deuey Lyons

James Deuey Lyons, 76, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, in Rogers. He was born April 20, 1933, in Sonora, Ark., to George Deuey and Pearl Ann Ice Lyons.

He was a former resident of Springfield, Mo. He worked as a milkman. He enjoyed antique and classic cars and caring for his dogs and cats.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Bill Lyons; and a sister, Bernice Bland.

Survivors include a son, James Steven Lyons of Rog ers; a brother, Dennis Lyons of Phoenix, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews

A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 31, at the Bland Cemetery in Bentonville, Ark., with Chaplain Dennis Cochran. Arrangements were by the Benton County Memorial Park Funeral Home of Rogers.

Alan James Masterson

Alan James Masterson, 63, of Lowell, Ark., died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, in Lowell. He was born Feb. 4, 1946, in Birmingham, England, to James Martin Masterson and Jean Shore Masterson.

He worked in the medical service industry. He was a Harrison (Ark.) High School alum standout. He graduated from the University of Arkansas and was a member of Sigma Chi and a Razorback zealot. He served in the U.S. Navy in the Submarine Service.

Survivors include his wife of 23 years, Sebrina Masterson; two sons, Ian Masterson of Wichita, Kan., and Jeremy Sherland of Clinton, Ark.; three daughters and a son-in-law, Heather Masterson of Rogers, Ark., and Misty Trammel and Michael Trammel, and Cynthia Masterson, all of Lowell; and 15 grandchildren.

A memorial service with military honors was held Thursday, Oct. 22, at the Benton County Funeral Home in downtown Rogers. Private was at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, Ark.

William David McBride

William David McBride, 46, of Hahn’s Peak, Colo., died Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009, at his home. He was born June 27, 1963, in Charleston, S.C., to Jim McBride and Reba Fern Hurd Mc-Bride.

He moved from Little Rock to Hahn’s Peak three years ago. He was a Rogers (Ark.) High School graduate and an avid astronomer, and was attending college in Colorado.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Reba Mc-Bride, on Dec. 24, 1984.

Survivors include his father, Jim McBride of Garfield, Ark.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Karen Orr and Robert Orr of Clark, Colo.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 24, at the First Baptist Church in Garfield, Ark. Burial was at the Ruddick Cemetery in Garfield. Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge, Ark.

Maurice ‘Maury’ Melrose

Maurice “Maury” Melrose, 80, of Rogers, Ark., died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at his home. He was born Sept. 27, 1929, in Helper, Utah, to Maurice C. Melrose and Esther K. Tone Melrose.

Survivors include his wife, Jean Melrose; two daughters and a son-in-law, Joan Minkel of Lakewood, Colo., and Kathryn Hubble and Royce Hubble of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a sister and brother-in-law, Madlin Feragen and Robert Feragen of Sioux Falls, S.D.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 24, at the First Presbyterian Church of Rogers. Cremation arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers

Charles Bryan ‘Chuck’ Rundel

Charles Bryan “Chuck” Rundel, 36, of Rogers, Ark., died Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2009, at his home. He was born Feb. 13, 1973, in Fort Smith, Ark., to Charles Rundel and Adrienne Rundel.

He attended school in Bentonville, Ark. He worked as an independent painting contractor for several years in northwest Arkansas until he became disabled in 1999. He was a Christian. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed watching movies with his sons, pulling pranks on his brothers, and caring for his Jack-a-poo, Spiro.

Survivors include two sons, Dennis Cole Rundel and Shane Bryon Rundel, both of the home; his mother, Adrienne Holm and her husband Douglas Holm of Bella Vista, Ark.; his father, Charles Rundel of Mulberry, Ark.; five brothers and two sisters-in-law, Tim Rundel and Brandy Rundel of Yukon, Okla., Mark Rundel of Centerton, Ark., Paul Rundel, and Shawn Rundel and Aimee Rundel, all of Bentonville, Ark., and Cory Rundel of Mulberry; a sister, Courtney Rundel of Mulberry; four nieces; three nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Bella Vista Funeral Home Chapel in Bella Vista, Ark.

Ray E. Oemig

Ray E. Oemig, 87, of Rogers, Ark., died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice Home in Springdale, Ark. He was born May 12, 1922, in Hinsdale, Ill., to Albert K. Oemig and Mary B. Felbinger Oemig.

He was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Army in New Guinea.

Survivors include his wife, Charmayne Oemig; two sons, Michael and Jeffery, both of Illinois; a daughter, Elizabeth of Illinois; a stepson, John Garner and his wife Mel Garner of Arkansas; two stepdaughters, Lori Heins and her husband Don Heins of Illinois and Jacqueline Garner and her husband Shawn Garner of Idaho; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Bland Chapel in Rogers with Pastor Dave Mack. Arrangements were by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers.

Nadine Galyen Vanzandt

Nadine Galyen Vanzandt, 85, of Bentonville, Ark., died Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at Circle of Life Hospice in Springdale, Ark. She was born Dec. 11, 1923, in Garfield, Ark., to Hayden Easley and Vesta Byler Easley.

She had worked at the Seligman (Mo.) School Cafeteria; Fastco in Cassville, Mo.; Emerson Electric in Rogers, Ark.; and Wal-Mart in Bentonville. She was a housekeeper for Mr. and Mrs. John Cooper of Bella Vista, Ark., for several years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pea Ridge, Ark., and the Willing Workers Sunday school class, and helped with vacation Bible school for many years. She enjoyed quilting, sewing, listening to the Kansas City Royals on the radio and collecting birds.

She was preceded in death by her first husband , Emmett Galyen; her second husband, Elgie Vanzandt; a son, Roger Emmett Galyen; and two sisters, Bernita Gibson and Lelia Fray.

Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Barbara McNelly and Johnny McNelly of Stella, Mo.; a brother, Kently Easley of New Bern, N.C.; three sisters, Audra Pratt of Rogers, Ark., Bobbie Jean Dart of Gateway, Ark., and Glee Wood of Harrisonville, Mo.; four grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday, Oct. 24, at the Sisco Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Aaron Matthews and Pastor Vernon Ray West. Burial was at the Pratt Cemetery east of Avoca, Ark. Arrangements were by Sisco Funeral Home of Pea Ridge, Ark.
