Fair includes exhibitors, free tests

— Come one, come all to "Healthy Choices for Healthy Aging," the 20th annual Bella Vista Senior Health Fair, on Thursday, Sept. 17, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Riordan Hall.

More than 50 exhibitors will be on hand to offer free health screenings, education programs and healthy refreshments.

The fair is presented by the Schmieding Center for Senior Education and theBella Vista Property Owners Association.

Free health screenings cover head to toe. Local businesses will offer vision, glaucoma and visual field tests; carotid artery, hearing and spinal examinations; gait and balance exams; blood pressure checks; pain tests;

and body mass indexes.

Several companies will provide chair massages to relax tense or sore muscles.

New this year is a mobility equipment check, said Margaret Christensen, coordinator of the Bella Vista Health Resource Center. Wheelchairs and walkers will be looked over, greased and ready to go.

Humana is a gold-level sponsor this year, with Boozman-Hof and Hull Dermatology as silver-level sponsors.

Doug Farner, mayor pro tem for the city of Bella Vista, will officially open Riordan Hall's doors at 8 a.m. for the fair.
