— Looking for some new fun in Bella Vista when it's too dark for golf and tennis.

Try singing country, rock and roll or show tunes with professional accompaniment. Go out to Shrimpman's Yacht Club at 7 p.m. Thursdays for Karaoke Night.

For about two months, T&S Entertainment has been hosting a karaoke program.

People come up to the microphone after picking their songs to sing a solo or to perform in a duet, trio, or larger group.

T&S owner Steve Spann plays the music and his computer displays the words on a 21-inch flat screen monitor.

To help people get comfortable singing in front of a crowd, Spann chooses a few songs and sings throughout the evening.

He has a wireless microphone so people can move around as they sing and a microphone on a stand so up to three people can perform at the same time.

T&S has a book with 8,000 songs, Spann said. People are always challenging him and telling him he probably doesn't have the song they want. Once in a while, they'll send him to his computer. where he can search 75,000 song titles and music.

Once people sing, Spann saves their names and the songs in his computer.

If they come back in a couple of weeks or month and want to sing the song again, he can pull the information up quickly, with the music and words ready to go in a short time.

All ages are welcome to sing, from grandchildren to greatgrandparents.

In addition to hosting a program at Shrimpman's, T&S will DJ music and or karaoke programs for weddings, birthdays and other parties.

For more information about T&S, or to book their services, call 295-9755.

Spann and his wife Tracie, the other owner, have eight years experience letting people sing the music they like.

Not much of a singer? Why not stop by for the food?

On Thursday night, Shrimpman's offers a buffet for $9.99, owner Glynda Lowe said.

The buffet offers the same home cooking the restaurant was famous for 21 years ago when it was located in Missouri. Freshly breaded catfish, grilled chicken, cheese potatoes, green beans, slaws, salad, rolls, and beans made with smoked turkey.

"They taste like their made with ham," Lowe said. "They're better for you."

Shrimpman's also believes in giving people what they like.

The whole idea of karaoke night is to provide food and fun on Loch Lomond for Bella Vistans, she said.

Lowe and her husband Ron are starting their fourth year in Bella Vista as owners of the establishment.
