— Charles V Owen Jr.

Charles V. Owen Jr., 80, of Bella Vista, died Saturday, Sept. 12, 2009, at the Mercy Medical Center, Rogers.

He was born Oct. 17, 1928 in Atlantic, Iowa to Charles Virgil Owen and Marguerite Darrow Owen.

Charles was raised and educated in Atlantic, Iowa graduating from Atlantic High School in 1944. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1944 and was honorably discharged in 1946. He attended Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa earning his bachelor of science degree in 1952.

Charles married Joanna Crawford on November 27, 1949, in Griswold, Iowa.

He began working at Iowa State University as a research metallurgist with the Ames Research Lab, retiring in 1988. They moved to Bella Vista.

He was a member of the ATO Fraternity, Jaycees, American Association of Metallurgy, former exalted ruler of the Elks, and Cub and Boy Scout Director and volunteer. He also loved hunting, fishing, and golfing.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Charles is survived by his wife of 59 years, Joanna of Bella Vista; sons Dr. Micheal David Owen of Ames, Iowa, Gary Charles Owen of Spirit Lake, Iowa, and Jeffrey Stephen Owen of Bloomington, Ind.; daughter Michelle Susan Taylor of Johnson, Kan.; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Sept. 16 at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

Teddy W. Patterson

Teddy W. Patterson, 90, of Bella Vista, died Sunday, Aug. 16, 2009, at Northwest Medical Center in Bentonville.

He was born March 19, 1919, in Pearson, Iowa, to Lyman Little Patterson and Pearl Elizabeth Crandall Patterson.

A memorial service was held Sept. 19 at Bella Vista Christian Church. Arrangements are by Rollins Funeral Home of Rogers, Ark.

Jack G. Richards

Jack G. Richards, 76, of Hot Springs Village died Sept. 17, 2009, at his residence. He was born Sept. 8, 1933, in Delta, Colo., to the late Clarence Richards and Elsie Albee Richards. He served for 20 years in the U.S. Navy and r e t i r e d f r o m Exxon.

A sister, D a r l e n e Richards, and a d a u g h t e r, K e r r i Richards Mescia, preceded Mr. Richards in death.

He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Ruth Tocha Richards of Hot Springs Village; sons Tony Richards and wife Bobbie of Conroe, Texas, Eric Richards of Boise, Idaho, and James Richards and wife Ryann of Eugene, Ore.; brother Ron Richards of Texas; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Memorials in honor of Mr. Richards may be made to the Garland County Humane Society.

Virginia L. Richmeier

Virginia L. Richmeier, 78, of Bella Vista, died Monday Sept. 21, 2009, at Highlands Healthcare Center, Bella Vista.

She was born Oct. 6, 1930, in Morland, Kan., the daughter of Quincy Bell and Lalia Keith Bell.

S h e moved to Bella Vista from Great Bend, Kan., in 1987.

Virginia loved to golf and spend time with family. She was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church for 22 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and 1 sister.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Danny Richmeier, of Bella Vista; sons Father Garry Richmeier of Kansas City, Mo.; Greg Richmeier and wife Lisa, of Great Bend, Kan.; Steve Richmeier and wife Betty of Kansas City, Mo.; and Danny Richmeier of Jasper, Mo.; daughter Brenda Marcus and husband John of Kansas City, Kan.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by the Bella Vista Funeral Home & Crematory.

Leah Lucile Soper

Leah Lucile Soper, 93, of Bentonville, died Sept. 11, 2009, at the The Gardens at Osage Terrace, Bentonville.

She was born on April 18, 1916, in Crystal Lake, Ill., to Emil Handrock and Elizabeth (Heiden) Handrock.

She moved to Bella Vista in 1979 from Chatsworth, Calif.

She was a member of the United Lutheran Church.

She was a professional artist and member of the Village Art Club, West Valley Artist in California and Bates Hospital Memorial Arts Council.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Glenn Soper, on July 4, 2004.

She is survived by sons Stephen Soper of Columbia, Mo., Keith Soper of Jackson Hole, Wyo., Jonathan Soper of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; daughter, Kathleen Turgeon of Belgrade, Mont.; 10 grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date.
